Attorney Profile

John F. Eker, III

john ekerThroughout my life I have been pro-active in everything that I have attempted.

Even at a young age, my boy scout patrol won the camp competition; at a new high school I was editor of the yearbook, head cheerleader, and founded an explorer post.

I received a Phillips Scholarship and during college at St. Thomas Seminary, worked with the Walk For Hunger, which grew to 15,000 youth participants my senior year and raised pledges of a quarter of a million dollars.

After college I ran religious education programs and spearheaded a movement which resulted in professionalization of the profession in the Omaha area.

Moving on to sales, I was the leading sales representative in a national organization for four years.

At the age of 38 I developed an interest in law, started as a part time student, working full time, coaching and working with the Boy Scouts, and finished law school in three years. In law school I worked with the Dean and a small group of students to develop the interest and general framework for public interest law at Creighton School of Law, which eventually developed the Creighton Legal Clinic.

As a father and husband, I coached little league, was a scout leader, and within the last several years have participated in four 100 mile rides, three of them in the mountains, to raise thousands of dollars for the leukemia foundation in support of my wife who has been suffering from this disease for twenty years.

I bring the same dedication to my clients. I welcome the opportunity to serve.
